Continental Call

'Viaje al Sur'
feat Ben van den Dungen

5 September 2021 16:00 uur, Huis Kernhem, Ede.

'Continental Call' is the title of our new series of world music concerts that we started last season. The series brings great Dutch and foreign musicians to Kernhem to play a range of styles varying from Brazilian, Latin-Jazz, Venezuelan music and Tango.

Host Edgar van Asselt shares his passion for world music with his guest for this concert: saxophone player Ben van den Dungen. Their musical acquaintance took place on a tour with Tango Extremo, a contemporary tango orchestra that travels the world with their innovative tango interpretations . Van Den Dungen also leads Latin-jazz formation Nueva Manteca, with which he has performed all over the world, with famous guests from the Latin scene such as Armando Peraza, Giovanni Hidalgo, Orestes Vilató and Luis Conte.

They have put together a special concert for Continental Call with the title: 'Viaje al Sur' (journey to the south). The repertoire will include Afro-Cuban rhythmns, swirling Latin-jazz and the melancholy of the Tango.

A special musical meeting of two musicians who share their passion for the musical richness of South America.

You can attend the concert live at Huis Kernhem as well as streaming from your living room. The number of live tickets is limited, so be quick!
